View Dashboards

Use the Dashboards tab to view and build dashboards and analyze BigPanda data. 

In the Analytics workspace, select a dashboard, apply filters, and explore individual widgets for a more detailed analysis. 

Required role

To view Dashboards, the Unified Analytics role is required. See the Roles documentation for more information.

Key Features

  • Browse, search, and favorite dashboards from the Analytics workspace panel.

  • Filter any dashboard by date range, time zone, and dashboard-specific parameters.

  • Explore, drill into, and compare the data behind individual widgets.

  • View the underlying rows behind an aggregated widget and choose which columns to display.

  • Download a widget as an image or a data file, or export the whole dashboard.

  • Create KPI alerts to be notified when a metric crosses a threshold, changes unexpectedly, or on a regular schedule.

  • Generate AI insights for a dashboard and ask the Assistant questions about your data.

Work with a dasboard

When you open a dashboard, the main panel shows its title, an optional description, and its widgets. Widgets include KPIs, trend charts, tables, and funnels. 

Filters near the top of the dashboard show currently applied values. Examples include, Connection Name (Select), User Name (Select), and Org Name (Select), date-range filter such as Incident Start Timestamp TZ Last 90 Days , and Time Zone UTC. Click a filter to change its value.

Each widget has its own actions. Hover over a widget to reveal its controls, then select the More menu (the ... icon) in the top-right corner of the widget. 

The More menu includes Rename, Explore, and Show underlying data. KPI widgets also inIclude an alert icon next to the More menu that you can use to create a KPI alert. The sections below describe each action.

Filter a dashboard

Use filters and parameters to scope a dashboard to the data you want to see.

  1. Near the top of the dashboard, select a filter chip to open the Apply filters and parameters page.

  2. In the Apply filters and parameters page, select the filter you want to edit from the list on the left.

    Date filters

    For a date filter, select Rolling for a relative range or Fixed to specify dates. For a rolling range, select the interval values, such as Last, 90, and Days. Turn on Include this day to include the current day. The Preview field shows the resolved range, such as Last 90 Days (04/25/2026 < 07/24/2026).

  3. Select Apply to update the dashboard, or select Reset to default to restore the original filters. To close the page without saving, select Cancel.

Explore and drill into a widget

Use Explore examine and modify the data shown in a widget without leaving the dashboard.

  1. Hover over a widget, open its More menu, and select Explore.

  2. In the Explore view, use the tabs on the right to refine the widget. Each tab offers a field where you can enter your own value and a set of suggestions you can apply with one click:

    •  Filter: Limit the widget to specific values. Enter a filter in the Add your own filter field, or choose a suggestion. 

    •  Add: Add a column to the widget. Enter a column in the Add your own column field, or choose a suggested attribute.

    •  Replace: Replace the current column. Choose a column from Select a column to replace, or select a suggestion. 

    •  Compare: Compare the widget with entered values or a suggested comparison. When no comparisons are available, the view shows No suggestions to display.

  3. Select Close to return to the liveboard.

View underlying data

View underlying data displays the individual rows used to calculate an aggregated widget.

  1. Hover over a widget and open the More options menu, then click Show underlying data.

  2. In the Show underlying data page, review the rows in the table. A banner displays Aggregated data is unavailable when viewing underlying data, and a row count such as Showing 1,000 of 1,000 rows appears below the table.

  3. To change which columns display, select Edit columns. In the Edit columns page, search for a column by name and select the columns to display. Turn on Show only selected to hide unselected columns. Select Done to apply your choices.

  4. To export the rows, select Download CSV.

  5. Select Done to close the page.

Download and export

You can download an individual widget or export a whole liveboard.

To download a single widget:

  1. Hover over a widget and click the three dots icon (…) to open its More menu.

  2. Click Download.

  3. On the Download Answer page, select a format — PNG for an image, XLSX for a spreadsheet, or CSV for raw data.

  4. Click Download.

To export the entire dashboard, select the download icon at the top right of the dashboard.

Create a KPI alert

Create a KPI alert to receive a notification when a metric meets a condition.

  1. Hover over a KPI widget and in the upper-right corner of the widget, click the Alert icon in the top-right corner of the widget.

  2. In the Create KPI alert page, select an alert type:

    •  KPI crosses a set limit: Get an alert when the metric rises above or falls below a threshold you set.

    •  Values of an attribute crosses a set limit: Get an alert when the metric for any value of an attribute changes by a set amount.

    •  Regular KPI updates: Get a recurring update on the metric on a schedule you choose.

    •  Regular updates on values of an attribute: Get a recurring update on the metric broken down by an attribute on a schedule you choose.

    •  Unexpected changes in KPI: Get an alert when the metric falls outside its expected range.

  3. In the Set Up Alert Type window, enter an Alert Name, and the Attributes, Conditions, or Sending Schedule, depending on the alert type selected.

  4. (Optional) In the Alert Body Content field, add a custom message for the person receiving the alert.

  5. Under Manage Recipients, select the user(s) or group(s) who will receive the alert.

  6. Click Create Alert.

Analyze data with SpotIQ

SpotIQ runs an analysis on a widget's data and returns insights you can save and share.

  1. Hover over a widget and click the three dots icon (…) to open its More menu, then select SpotIQ analyze.

  2. In the Select analysis type page, choose one of the following:

    •  Forecasting: Predict future values based on historical trends.

    •  Outlier: Identify values that differ significantly from the rest of the dataset.

    •  Trend Analysis: Identify notable trends in the underlying data.

    •  Cross correlation: Discover how your metrics correlate with other measures.

  3. Select Next.

  4. In the Select columns page, keep the recommended columns or search for and select the columns you want to analyze. To adjust the analysis settings, select Customize parameters

  5. Select Analyze. SpotIQ shows Analysis in progress while it runs and notifies you when the analysis is ready.

  6. When Analysis complete appears, select View analysis.

On the analysis results page, review the insight and the chart SpotIQ generated.

To keep the results, select Save insights. From the More menu you can share or delete the analysis, customize or schedule it, or open Analysis Details. To tell BigPanda whether an insight was helpful, use the feedback control below the chart.

Generate AI insights

AI insights automatically highlight notable patterns in a dashboard, such as spikes, dips, and unusual values.

  1. In the upper-right corner of the dashboard, select the  Insights icon. 

  2. In the AI insights panel, review each generated insight. The panel shows when the insights were generated.

  3. To see the data behind an insight, select Show evidence. Select Hide evidence to collapse it again.

  4. To dig deeper into an insight, select Investigate to open the AI Assistant panel.

  5. To produce a fresh set of insights, select Regenerate.

Ask the Assistant

The Assistant answers questions about the data behind the current liveboard, including trends, drivers, and comparisons using AI.

  1. In the upper right corner of the dashboard, select the  Assistant icon.

  2. In the Assistant panel, enter a question in the Ask about this dashboard field. For example, ask about how a metric is calculated or which factors may be associated with a change.

  3. Review the response, then enter a follow-up question to continue the conversation.

  4. To start a new session, click the plus icon (+) at the top right of the Assistant panel.
