BigPanda is an algorithmic event management platform that automates how IT teams manage the explosion of alerts and incidents they face every day. By intelligently correlating massive volumes of alerts from fragmented clouds, applications, and infrastructure, BigPanda enables IT Operations teams to cut through the noise, remediate IT issues faster and with fewer resources, and achieve dramatically higher service levels.
As you get started with BigPanda, it’s helpful to understand how BigPanda works, including:
Correlation––dynamically clusters related alerts into one high-level incident for reduced alert noise and better visibility across disparate tools and infrastructure. Learn more...
Enrichment––adds contextual information to alerts for improved alert correlation and easier incident investigation and resolution. Learn more...
Sharing––notifies key team members or escalates incidents through an external ticketing and/or collaboration system. Learn more...
Environments––creates custom views to categorize incidents for investigation by service operations teams, smart ticketing via automatic sharing, targeted searches, and reporting. Learn more...
Start by integrating your Monitoring Tools to send all alert data to BigPanda. To get you going quickly, BigPanda provides many built-in Integrations with popular monitoring tools, such as Nagios and New Relic. For custom solutions and homegrown scripts, you can build advanced integrations by using the BigPanda API Reference.
After you integrate your monitoring tools, data begins flowing into BigPanda. Alerts are automatically processed and correlated into high-level incidents, which you can see in the BigPanda UI. Depending on your team's incident workflow, you can set up BigPanda to support any of the following use cases:
Unified Console––manage incidents through the service operations workflow from within the purpose-built BigPanda UI.
Smart Ticketing––automatically enrich and synchronize real-time incident data into ticketing tools, such as ServiceNow and JIRA, to deliver the benefits of BigPanda’s alert correlation within an existing ticketing workflow.
First, define Environments to organize incidents based on the areas of responsibility and processes in your organization. For example, you may want a custom view of incidents for a team that focuses only on production databases (unified console). Or, you may want a category of critical incidents for key services that will be escalated automatically (Smart Ticketing).
Next, configure Sharing Channels to integrate any ticketing or collaboration systems that you want to use with BigPanda. Then, define AutoShare Rules for Environments to notify key team members (unified console) or to automatically escalate incidents (smart ticketing).
Finally, invite users to join your BigPanda organization.
As your team starts using BigPanda, you'll want to learn more about how these key features can help support your service operations.
