How to Integrate New Relic with BigPanda

Create an App Key

First create an App Key. You'll need a separate App Key for each integrated system.

Locate Alerts Settings

In the New Relic dashboard, navigate to Alerts > Notification channels.

Create the BigPanda Notification Channel

  1. Click New notification channel

  2. Select Webhook as the channel type.

  3. Fill in the form with the following details:

  • Channel name: BigPanda
  • Base URL: $INTEGRATIONS_API_BASE_URL/newrelic/alerts
  • Add the following Custom Headers:

app_key$YOUR_APP_KEY
  1. Click Add custom payload and ensure that JSON is selected as the payload type.

  2. At the bottom of the screen, click Create channel.

Test the Channel

  1. Under Alerts > Notification channels, choose the BigPanda channel you just created, scroll down and click Send a test notification.

  2. In BigPanda, click Incidents in the top menu and confirm that the test message was received.

    Note: Since it is a test message, it won't be resolved automatically. Click Resolve incident to manually resolve it.

Add BigPanda Notification Channel to an Alert Policy

  1. Navigate to Alerts > Alerts policies and choose your policy

  2. Ensure Incident preference is set to By condition and entity

  3. Under Notification channels click Add notification channels.

  4. Choose Webhook > BigPanda channel and click Update policy.
